Yummy creamy pongal




Ingredients
1/2 cup moong dal/ split green gram
1/2 cup rice
Salt as per taste
3 cups water
1 cup milk

For seasoning:
Ghee 3 tablespoons
1/4 tsp  turmeric
3 slit Green chillies
1 inch Ginger grated/chopped
1/4 cup Grated  copra/dry coconut
Fried Cashews(optional)
Few Curry leaves
½  tbsp Jeera/Cumin 
1 tbsp of whole peppercorns

Preparation:
  • Take equal measure of rice and moong dal and cook in 3 cups of water and 1 cup of milk.
  • In a pan add ghee, to this add rest of the ingredients mentioned under seasoning expect cashew, saute them without burning.
  • Add the sauteed seasoning, fried Cashews and salt to the cooked rice and dal, mix properly. Serve hot with ghee.
